I believe that the most effective type of research is to just watch movies.
Especially watching movies you enjoy watching and recognising directors who made them.
I have been studying directors who made some of my favourite movies, seeing their vision and learning what they produce in all of their films that makes them great and the movies they produce enjoyable.

However some of the movies I enjoy watching aren't exactly similar to what I am going to make for my FMP, the plan is to dive in and research on how they make movies that mean something that the audience can remember and talk about with their friends.
Lighting in dark settings and night time is something I'm researching.
In this scene, there seems to be a soft light placed outside the window or near to it as well as an accent lighting on the ceiling or a lamp to light up the background/wall.
The lights seems to be soften and dimmed to mimic the moonlight look.

I really like this scene as well as it uses practical lights and it seems really easy to achieve. Two lamps on the sides and a ceiling light turned cyan blue to light up the background. The laptop is creating some light to brighten the actress' face and there also seems to be a key light infront of the actress.
Finding information from books.
cinematography.

I read this book trying to remind myself the fundamentals of cinematography and more. I was introduced with a lot of new techniques with how's and why's.
One of these things is the rule of third, this is something I already knew before but forgotten how to fully utilize it to make the audience more engaged in the scene.

Other information.
directors.

There was extra information in this book for example interviews with directors which is really useful.
